Under capitalism, social mobility, wherein the poor become rich and rich become poor, benefits society.

Under socialism, to the extent that advancement is at all possible, it harms society, since (1) those who get to the top do so over the dead bodies of their fellow men; (2) admitting economic change results in utter chaos and ruins any central plan.

The socialist propaganda that in a capitalist society it is impossible to get rich without breaking the law is utterly vicious and false.

But as Hayek noted, under socialism, the worst get on top.
