Young people should know that soldiering is a profession for a small number of elite mercenaries, i.e., extremely well-trained and competent independent contractors-warriors.
They take reasonable risks with their lives but are very well compensated, such that the risks to them are worth the reward.
These mercenaries can be employed for good and evil; but they don’t care and fight for money.
Young men who enlist in the military, on the contrary, get a raw deal. They kill and die for nothing. They are losers, amateur dilettantes in the art of war. Yet society perversely encourages their terrible decisions by endlessly praising the “troops.”
We should abolish the US military 100% and replace it with a force of 1,000 or so such mighty soldiers of fortune.
